Hywel Dda Health Board Consultation ‘The Big Change’
Response from Carmarthen East & Dinefwr Constituency Labour Party
Our members and supporters live and work within the parliamentary constituency of Carmarthen East and Dinefwr. We are both residents and users of the services provided by Hywel Dda Health Board (HDHB). In addition many of our members work within the NHS and Social Care Services
and affiliated to Trades Union recognised by HDHB employers.
Many of our members and supporters hold positions with Town / Community Councils and are engaged in community support and development work. We are therefore well placed to hear the concerns of the public regarding HDHB’s proposals.
This is the formal response of Carmarthen East & Dinefwr Labour Party to the Consultation Document
We have engaged with our members and the public throughout the 12 week Consultation. Whilst we appreciate the efforts HDHB has taken to ensure transparency and to engage with the public and their representatives it is our clear view that the 12 week consultation period has not been long enough to ensure residents have been able to understand such a complex and difficult matter.
Therefore, whilst this paper reflects our concerns and position at this stage as the formal consultation ends, it does not cover and cannot cover the full extent of our questions and concerns.
The major reason for that has been the Board’s suggestion that a New Hospital should be based in the area of Narbeth/ Whitland,/St Clare’s.
